Shameless Type Scare Tactics Poster day. BOO!

This thread ran to 3 pages of replies and only one was recovered, so replies are missing.

Chris Lozos

Tis the time of fiends and ghouls to shamelessly tell the tales oo TYPE!!!!!

BEWARE!!!

not for the faint of heart ;-<]

And the scariest one OF ALL!!!

You know, suddenly your idea of having the best and worst Typophile puns Wiki sounds like a good idea :-)

But these are Wicked, Beastly, Frightening, puns!!!

ChrisL

And there were some variations as well:

ChrisL

ChrisL

LOL... terrfic stuff

Héctor

One more for YOU Héctor--Be very FRIGHTENED!!!!

ChrisL

Time for a drive-by thread jacking, here's one I did recently...

Hey chris,
I liked the Dez Frogy typeface a lot. When did you made this? I never saw your typefaces...Can i see all the characters of this face??
I remember you using this same typeface in one of the joe's birthday greetings but i didnt knew that its your own typeface.
Really Great!!

satya:)

I love it!

Cool stuff...

Glad you haven't

your need for puns.

They're all quite

in a ghoulish sort of way.

Happy Halloween...
We're heading to Salem, Mass. tonight to feed the ghosties!

Fabulous, Chris!

Ahahahahah!

“Face up to it”… funny.

I tell you mister, you’re crazy. Probably.

Tovarich is kick ass! I haven't seen it before! It looks like the great-grandchild of Steile Futura, and a third cousin of Calcite. I just love it!

And I love the photo of you with your posters, too. That's a keeper.

"I tell you mister, you’re crazy. Probably."

What do you mean Probably? :-) I'm certifiable!

ChrisL

Tovarich is a typeface I did in 1992. It was the first type I ever did. I had lost the file until recently. I just fixed it up--it was a real mess! I also just added CE and Cyrillic. I will post it later to Critique.

ChrisL

Satya,
Thanks for your kind comments!

Here are links to many of my tpefaces here online. They are in the Critique area and you get to see the progression of the work as well as peoples comments about them.

Norbert,
Since you are going to Salem, here is one for you!

ChrisL

Looking foreward to seeing your web site!

Eben,
Here is one about the web we weave:

ChrisL

Thanks Dan! Can you point me to the faces you mentioned? I would like to take a peek.

ChrisL

Here is a special one for Linda C who was expecting 6 inches of snow last night:

ChrisL

Excellent stuff, Chris! Made my day in the very wet Helsinki (other parts of the country ended up with a HUGE amount of snow, but here on the coast it all came down in a liquid form).

Thanks Dan! I'll check them out.

ChrisL

Thanks Mili,

You chose wisely which part of the country to live in.

BTW, I just watched Verdi's Don Carlo with Marti Saliman as the Grand Inquisitor. He and Talvela are my favorite bassos. What is it about Finland to create these big resonant dramatic bass voices? Perhaps the long winters :-)

ChrisL

Chris, perhaps one of the typical Finnish body shapes has something to do with it, the one with shortish legs and long back. Add to that a bit of a tummy, and you'll get a wonderful base for the voice... and why not the winter, too.

Maybe I should move to Finland in Winter to see if my singing improves?
:-)

ChrisL

Welcome, it's just starting!

Some pictures to inspire you run to the travel agents' and book a trip

(try searching with snow)

Chris, you've made a great work. I really like all your typefac especially the Tovarich and Leporello one. We are now warn, the «dark side» of your personnality is unveiled. ;^)

Dan,
That FontBureau Tasse is a beauty!
You must have put the wrong link on Calcite but I did find it at your Linotype site. At least I assume the Akira one there is what you are talking about. It is nice and very free. It has the restraint of type with the freedom of the brush somehow mixed. My compliments to Akira!

ChrisL

>to see if my singing improves

Book me for a performance--I have to see that!

I like to say: "It takes a character to make characters."

Mili,
Here is one I just made from a photo on the site you linked:

ChrisL

Nice, and not at all scary! That dougle-g is just wonderful.

Chris, you're mad. No, really, completely bonkers.

:^D

Here is one just for Andre:

ChrisL

LOL

Great «dark» job! Hoping I'm not impolite...

Leporello evokes the spirit of Goudy sans.

Yves, Did you say Madman?

ChrisL

I'm with Yves, Dez you are mad. These are all hilarious.

Chris, you have too much free time. :) I can certainly say that the man is a whole bag of nuts. ;)

Sometimes the Spirit just moves me, but not Goudy's :-)

ChrisL

I resemble that remark Terry! :-)
