Ornamental "and" "of" "the" "No."?

mendeigh

I'm trying to locate a good source for the little embellished 'and' 'the' 'Co.' etc. that are often found on very old labels and ads around 1900?

Do these have a particular name? If they're just an added bonus with some typefaces, can someone recommend a few to look at?

I found this: http://www.letterheadfonts.com/fonts/noelsthesands.php but would like some more options.

Thanks so much!

I think "catch words" or "catchwords" is a term, and Jeff levine does Catch Words JNL, whilst FontFont do FF Catch Words. There's also the Brothers Word Logos.

"No." is actually a Unicode character in the standard Cyrillic encoding, so all Cyrillic fonts have it.

You may find interesting catchwords in Pinabico.

Adobe Wood Type has them, and Phaeton has many more, in several languages. I believe briarpress.org, a letterpress site, also has some actual wood type designs in vector form to download.
