(x) need font ID--Joseph Conrad title - modified Typeface-Six, maybe w/ traces of Mostra and Bonn {Stephen L, SF, Rainer}

luvtype

Can anyone identify this font, please?

Thanks!

Neville Brody's Typeface-Six with a customised 'S'?

Oh wait, Typeface-Six doesn't have a pointy tip on the A either.

With a lousily customised 'S', if so.

Can the "A" and "S" be from MOSTRA?

Looks more like the custom typeface Bonn from Neville Brody which was modified to their needs.

Rainer, yeah, I looked at Bonn, but lent towards Typeface-Six because it had the right J. I guess Bonn's got the right A though, so it could be both with the S taken from a third source?

Luvtype, the A in Mostra/Mostra Nuova doesn't fit, but the S does look the same. The question then is whether this sample predates Mostra (2001) which, to my eye, it does. Well, the style does anyway. Do you know when the book was produced?

Thanks for the input. The book was produced in 2009, afaik.

I agree that Typeface-Six was the starting point. Apart from the unique ‘J’, the counters of ‘P’/‘R’ and other details are a match.

Is Bonn available anywhere?

No. It is a custom typeface for the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Bonn. Neville Brody has also used it in his redesign for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, ORF. See also the thread Rainer (Renko) has linked to.

Yes, I've seen that. Was hoping maybe something had changed in the interim. Thanks!

The designer describes this as a custom typeface, and I agree that it is a customization of FF Typeface Six. More info on Fonts In Use.
