Sky Snacks Logo

mikefats

I’ve been asked to come up with a quick and dirty logo for a friend’s school project: Sky Snacks is a company that arranges for in-flight snack sampling: pretzels, chips, candy etc.
Please have a look and have your say: should the logo push the “snack” aspect more, or okay to leave as is?

Thanks,
Michael

It sure is dirty.

I see “sk snacks”

push the snack.
push the sky.
push the sky snack.

Seriously look at a few snack logos, this is lacking and could be a pretty cool logo type, I dig your idea of using a character(s) as the icon maybe think about sticking with the standard ’y’ and then adding an icon to represent (see/say) the plane.

Also think about an icon to represent a ’snack’ that would help define the product.

Great - now all I can see is a shamelessly excited “sk”

I had a feeling this is undercooked. The name is indeed much more exciting than the logotype. The logo is one day old and I was maybe too hasty in posting it in this forum but I do appreciate all your feedback.
Let me add this in defense of a not-overly-stylized (“snack-y”) solution: the logo is intended for corporate audience (the Lufthansas, Frito-Lays and Wrigleys of the world); the snacks that are passed around on the plane will naturally carry their own visual branding.

at first I read it as Sk Snacks

then, after mikefats comment now all I see is an aroused Sk

i see a figure pushing sk away from himself. needs some variation in the type. this doesn’t hold up on it’s own. it doesn’t demand attention. it doesn’t look corporate enough to be smart and sophisticated and it’s not playful enough to be fun and welcoming. falls in the middle. maybe both words don’t need to be italic? what about kerning?

I would make it fun. Especially because it’s for a project. Just because it’s ’corporate’ doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

What about this?

Yea maybe check out some fun logos such as Sunkist or Fruitopia or Fanta. For some reason your treatment makes me think of japenese candy. don’t know why.

Jayyy: nice, nice - the “bite taken out a-la cloud shape” looks promising.

What about the bite in one of the blue letters, to emphasize a cloud in a blue sky?

What about the bite in one of the blue letters, to emphasize a cloud in a blue sky?

. . . Yeah Jay, why didn’t you think of that?

This second idea is much more on track.

that was my first idea - a bite in each side of the ’S’ in sky but it just looked odd.

Neat idea, but do add another tooth to the bite mark .. three teeth looks kinda mutant :)
