Logo Critique: Static Soul Record Company

KulanderMantilla

Hey again,

OK I will start with attaching my initial ideas for this little record company located in sweden. The first promo releases will be on 7” vinyl. It is electronic music with a soulfull twist .. want it to fell a bit vintage etc i think. A bit rockabill/ol blues stuff but with a modern finish cause it is still electronic music. So these will in the end be attached on vinyl-labels etc. Ok let me know what u guys think.

Ciao!

I love 1 and 4!!!

I think one and four are the best but for 4 you should move static on top of soul and kind of fill out the word balloon out.

I agree that #4 looks the best! Did you try it with a round speech bubble instead of rectangular? I’m just wondering what that would look like.

I’m really feeling #3, although it does remind me a bit of the mascot of http://plan9.bell-labs.com/plan9/

4.
Yes, Please.

Nice one.

4 is best

Thnx for all comments. Here is a round version as well.

Before you go too far, you might want to read this:

Although, yours has a nice twist and is appropriate for the label.

you must treat the typography as you treat the bubble; if you grunge up the bubble, you must grunge up the type. If you want the type crispy clean, make the bubble the same way.

TDF >> Of course but this is all a matter of time and money a bit as well. This just a quick/small-scaled project... but i deffo see your point ... thnx for the good article.

Speech balloons ARE used a lot, but I think it’s like a riff from an AC/DC song or a good cup of coffee or a rerun of your favorite sitcom...it’s good every time.

I like the rectangular speech bubble better than the round one. 1, 3, & 4 are all good directions, IMHO. Although #1, with the ray bans, may play as too ultra-fresh retro, so that it will seem ironic only a year from now. Apparently, according to Details magazine, they’re “out” already, particularly in different colors. But I digress...

4.

Maybe make the bubble more circular and into a record with grooves. Maybe too cliche...

i like number 3.
i like it because of the bunny wearing shades illustration, its friendly.
however the typography doesn’t work with the illustration.
i think you should try and rework that so that the type feels like it belongs there.

I liked the original 4 better because it’s more squarish. I wouldn’t make it round or elliptical.

I’m a fan of 1 and 3, but I’d use the text from 1 with 3. These speak to me, give me a hint of the music style you described. Is the bunny full of static electricity? ha ha.

@Ratbaggy speak records the one that is committed to promoting and producing Christ-centered, ministry-oriented artists and music with the goal of presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. ?

@KulanderMantilla the 4 looks really nice, needs a jaggy typeface or give that type of treatment to the typeface that you already have, like innovati said.
