Piae cantiones

fission

Hi,

I’ve been transcribing a few pieces from Piæ cantiones, and was wondering what the typeface is. (Sorry for not posting it inline, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere any time soon.)

I do have an idea, but I’d rather give you a fresh look at it. ;-)

Not likely you’ll find an exact match, but Galliard italic is close for the text.

Looks like Caslon not Galliard. Adobe Caslon or Hoefler Text can give you many of the details.
But everything we have now is super sanitized and polished.

Mikey :-)
