HELP ABOUT ILLUSTRATOR CS3 MANAGING MY FONTS

Eric22

Hello,

I’m having a big problem with Illustrator CS3.

If I deactivate my fonts in Suitcase, they stay
open in Illustrator. How come.

Even if I restart my computer, I deleted all my
fonts in Suitcase, and they still appear
in Illustrator.

I’m going crazy.... I have about 300 fonts open in Illustrator,
and I cant close them at all.

Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong?

Are these fonts in the Adobe Application Support folder?

Library —> Application Support —> Adobe —> Fonts

No there not.

They are in my User/Shared/

is that ok?

Which version of Suitcase are you using?
Which version of Mac OS X (?) are you using?

Suitcase X1 11.0.2
mac os X 10.4.11

If they are in your user fonts folder they will always be active. Can you specify the directory?

I’m starting to think
that I should trash all
my fonts that I installed
on my computer.

No I wouldn’t do that. From my own experience having the urge to trash anything is a sign to step away from the computer. ;^)

Miss tiffany,

my fonts are in my Macinthosh Hd/Users/Shared

maybe they are not at a good place.

Where shoud I put them?

That isn’t a bad place to keep them. So they aren’t in a library. Hmm. Have you searched for them to see if Suitcase has duplicated them somewhere? Did you accidentally remove them from Suitcase before deactivating them?

nope, not at all.

I installed Illustrator3 maybe 1 1/2 months ago,
and that problem started right after I install it.
See the images, that is just type from O to P.
crazy. They just wont close. Even if I restart 20 time my computer

and my Suitcase is empty.

Where does Illustrator goes and get does fonts if they are closed in Suitcase?

Which fonts are still active?

Miss Tiffany,

thank you very much for your help.

But its to late. I am presently trashing all my fonts.

the hell with it.

I have them back-ups.

Thanks again

eric

Before you re-install, or trash, you might want to clear the font cache first.

Try this utility: Font Finagler

How do I do that?
See, I’m a bit old school in graphic design.
I use the computer, but I have no idea how it works.

Looking at this page (http://www.extensis.com/en/support/cs3_compatibility.jsp) it looks like you might have to upgrade to v 12.1.4 or higher.

Miss Tiffany,

merci beaucoup, thank you, gracias... your software has work.

I am so happy, and now, my illustrator and computer is running way faster.

Thank you Miguel Sousa... I’m gonna look at your link you sent me. That is probably the problem.

eric

You are very welcome.
