(x) Bold Didot-like serif face in Swedish ad - Domino {Nick Curtis}

PeMo

It’s Domino, designed by Alfred Riedel for Ludwig & Mayer in 1954. I’ll be coming out with a version of it in late November.

We IDed this a few months back in a Swedish ad (perhaps the same series?), but I can’t find the thread now.

Until Nick’s version comes out, the two digital versions I’m aware of are Dieter Steffmann’s Domnio (T1 only, I’m afraid) and Articula Display by SSi.

In that other, mystery thread, there was a comparison of the curves of the Steffmann font and the curves of the type in the ad. The Steffmann font (and the Articula one, for that matter), had less smooth curves than did the ad. Someone sent a message to the ad’s designer, but the true provenance of the font was never discovered.

What happened to that thread!

I don’t know what happened to the old thread. I was in contact with art director Peter Eriksson at Storåkers (who makes the ads for the The Swedish National Debt Office) and he told me that they are using the font OPTI Domino Regular...

Thanks for validating my sanity : )
