Identify Solid Typefaces as a Foundation to Manipulate...

J_P_C

Hey Guys-

Wondering if anybody can lean me in the direction of any existing typefaces similar to these? I've added a few examples, obviously different but I really like the style, especially the solid serif one. They are some custom work by the fantastic crew at Non-Format. I'm wanting to find some abstract solid typefaces similar to do some experimenting for a poster design. Full credit to Non-Format love there work!!

Thanks for any help in advance!

Cheers

This one is in the direction of your top sample:

And it’s free!

For the Black Devil Disco Club click yourself through the similarfonts-section at identifont using Black Boton Bold as a start.

Have a look at chubby pack as well @ backpacker.gr. It's not exactly the same but by deleting the counters manually (if it's not too much trouble) you get an interesting result.

For the Brochures: There was this thread not long ago.

Thanks guys, really interesting links...checking into them now. Thanks Renko checked the brochure thread- never actually thought of using a heavy stroke to acheive the look, Nice!

these bits look like someone took their type in illustrator, converted to outlines, created an offset path, and then cleaned it up a bit. the fonts are VAG Rounded, some version of Carendon and Myriad Bold.

Below i have applied this process to Myriad Bold. You can see that I can easily derive the result from this with a bit of cleanup:

FF Extra
Gusto
Copal
Acton
Blocks
Or add a heavy stroke to Frankfurter

Thanks Paul & Stephen, really enjoying learning the process of creating interesting typography.

Best
