Hi all,
I want to learn the history of typography. I need some sources. So far I have found
Anatomy of a typeface
Elements of the typographic style
Any others? Thanks.

One author that could be added to the existing list of books on graphic design history is Richard Hollis:
Graphic Design, A Concise History (Second edition)
Swiss Graphic Design: The Origins and Growth of an International Style, 1920-1965
Avant Garde Graphics 1918-1934: From the Merrill C. Berman Collection (with Lutz Becker)

A couple more:
Updike, D. B. “Printing Types, their history, form, and uses”. (the standard reference for pre-twentieth century)
Carter, H. “The Le Bé Memorandum” (history of 16th century French typefounding).
Haley, Allan. “Typographic Milestones”
Gray, N. “Nineteenth Century Ornamented Typefaces” (the Nash version has American as well as English)
Most everything else you can find in the bibliographies of what’s already been mentioned.

If you can afford a copy, Revival of the Fittest is worth tracking down. I managed to dig up a copy in January for $40 with a lot of searching.
