Photo is from the late 1980s. The lettering on the boat might have been applied by hand, but it looks as if it was at least based on a typeface.

I’d considered Laudatio. It’s similar to the sample, but not as curvy. The “s” is particularly different.

I suspect that, if the sample is actually a font, it’s a display font.

Also similar Alonso Flair. It has a single story a in position U+2202 (Copy-Paste: ∂).
