Old company logo needs to be recreated - font info lost

Hi everybody
Desperatly trying to identify that font. We need to rebuilt that company logo. The font's likely to be quite old. Probably 1970s or earlier even.
Tried whatthefont website, but did not find the correct match.
Thanks to everybody giving hints to solve this riddle.
