Crossless font

Michael Brady

Does anyone know what the term "crossless font" refers to? Someone on an editing list asked the question. All I've been able to find are some passing references to it used with sign-cutting or engraving equipment.

Danke, mes amigos

Semi-wild guess: stencil?

And here I thought it had to do with that rather unusual fellow with an objection to the letter K whom you once assisted.

The highlight of my career.

He assisted me right back, so I didn't mind.

Interestingly, most fonts are crossless. This being an exception: http://gracehastings.dioceseny.org/images/BaptismalFont.JPG

LOL, Jacob!

Also, my imagination had this to say:

crossless t?

Joking apart, could it be sans-serif faces? The best would be to get from the original querent a list of which faces are crossless and which aren't..
