What's the very first thing you see?

Ummm... “textile arts center”?

I meant before you read the words.
Just curious.

A reflection of windows in the window.

before you read the words

Something vaguely faux arabic.

Neon sign

textile cuts center

— Oh, before reading. Um, a neon sign that looks a bit Arabic, as someone said above.

For some reason or another the first thing I saw was the BBQ down in bottom left corner.

And right now I feel like that big over stuffed gent in the Monty Python skit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Bs1ZZ-7b8 - so I think it's a little disturbing that the first thing I saw was the BBQ.

The first thing I saw (after the redirect page) was a queerly-dressed lady in the top right corner... and, assisted by the heading, wound up thinking "The Kew Gardens compacted onto a body".

A white box with an "x" in the top right corner

So yeah, what I myself saw first was Arabic (like a few of you).
Which made me think: could somebody make an English/Arabic
ambigram except it's hanging and you read it from front and back.
Like a tree ornament that says "peace" or something.

(Simon, funny.)

Like the "falaafel" window lettering that, seen from the inside of the place, reads "disgust" in German?

Warping effects in the middle, I guess. My first thought was: The Minority report.

Nina, I'd forgotten about that! :-)

So in an Arabic restaurant the outside of a sign could be
used to draw non-Arabs in, and the inside could make
them feel like they've traveled to an Arab country.

Also one cool thing here is that the neon promotes the
joining of letters, which of course makes it more Arabic.
