is there a name for the type of fonts that have wide vertical lines and thin horizontal lines?

Troy

Hi guys,

Just wondering is there a style/name that describes this sort of type?

The T has the wide vertical and thin horizontal lines.

Any help would be great

No, there's no general name which includes your sans-serif examples. One type of typeface that has that characteristics, the Didones, does have a name.

I would call it a stressed sans. "Stressed" meaning it has variations in stress—noticeable thicks and thins.

High contrast or high stress would be appropriate labels.

Most of the time, with fonts like that, I'd call Squoosh
