Typophile

how to?

Vaatika

Hello everyone...

i am new to typophile and I am not fully aware of the different icons, navigations here. I would like to know what the icons (attached image) stand for? when I search for anything (in particular) I guess, i end up getting mixed search results. So is there a particular way I can track few discussions say like anything regarding kerning or about type classification... etc?

whenever I type keywords and open a forum, is there a way I can save it or 'favourite it' or something like a history of forums I have replied to. I am sorry I havnt been able to get a hang of it.

Thanks in advance.

And yes... every time i insert an image it shows an error. Plus is there a way I can find posts on similar topics which are being discussed?

Thanks again
Cheers

In order to successfully insert images, you will need to remove any spaces from the file name.

The blue icon with the lock means that the thread is closed to new comments.
The red circle means there is a new unread reply.
The red flame means there are lots of new unread replies.
The exclamation mark, I don’t know/remember. Maybe that it’s a new thread.

Here’s the best place where starting your searches:

The exclamation mark indicates a "sticky" thread -- meaning one that always appears at the top of a forum list (usually this is a Read Me type of thread).

If you have posted in a thread, then it will appear in the Track tab of your user account page. (Many people will post a dummy comment in order to make a thread appear there.)

Alternately, you can bookmark a thread by clicking on the faint "bookmark" icon in the upper right of the initial post in a thread. When you do, the icon will turn solid and red.

To access the list of your marked threads, click on "My marks" under your account name in the upper right sidebar.

> remove any spaces

Other characters cause problems too... like the ampersand.
To be safe I always stick to the basic alphanumerics (plus underscore).

Thanks a ton everyone.

You can track discussions by clicking on the light grey bookmark sign, at the top-right of a thread. These can then be found under 'My Marks' at the top-right of the page.

Good luck!
