In need of a Sans Serif with Small Caps

winterwhite

I am in need of a font similar to Century Gothic that comes with smalls caps and better weight options.

(Edited, sorry!)

• Twentieth Century Small caps: Yes. Many weights: No. Pointy all the way: What way?
• Neutraface Small caps: Yes. Many weights: Yes. Pointy all the way: Yes. Dated look: Yes, but the text versions not-so-much.
• Futura ND Small caps: Yes. Many weights: Yes. Pointy all the way: No.

It's not as purely geometric, but if you use stylistic set 2, Adobe Hypatia might work: small caps, pointy N, and six weights.

When I meant "pointy all the way" I meant the tip of the "N" & tops of the "A" stays at a sharp point even in the heavier weights. Sorry if that was confusing!

Thanks so much for both of your suggestions! Very kind of you to reply! I will look into those immidiately!

In the mean time if anyone thinks of anything else I am definitely open to as much help as I can get, so a big thank you to those who take the time to read & reply!

Got that. Just that my suggestion was a one weight font. Why not Brandon Grotesque, btw?

If you are familiar with vector drawing, making a pointy N is not a lot of work. If just for the logo.

Avant Garde?

I would love to go with Brandon Grotesque! But it doesn't have small caps and they are so set on that. I think I'm going to come up with some alternatives though because i don't think the small caps look right...

You are right however that constructing the pointy N would be fine, but we wanted to have the font available for multiple uses in different weights and I wanted it to all look consistent.

Thanks again for all your tips and suggestions! You have no idea how much I've appreciated it.

If criteria is for sharp pointed "A" and "N", take a look at my Contax Pro sans serif font family. It also has real small caps.

Neutraface, Verlag and Relay have enough weights that you might be able to emulate small caps by using a heavier font for the smaller letters. Just have to match it right.

Would have thought Tangent by Terminal Design is worth a look.

If you really want pointy then you could do that yourself with the font in question quite easily (EULA permitting, clearly).

Quite easily?

Thanks! I am definitely looking into your font. It seems to be a similar style/price to Brandon so thank you for that one!

The link for the font Tangent doesn't seem to be working! Do you know if there is another place it's available?

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! Really appreciating the help!

Jessica — I’ve just alerted James Montalbano that something is wrong with the Terminal Design website. Not sure what’s gone wrong, but hopefully he’ll have it back up and running soon.

Yes, there appears to be a problem with the Terminal Design site. While we repair it you can download a zip containing the Tangent pdf samples here.

>>>Quite easily?

Sorry, I was assuming it's just a logo in question. Sounds like it's a whole font family as a corporate font so, not that easily after all! Good call. I should learn to read.

The Terminal Design site is back up. A corrupted WordPress plug-in seems to have been the culprit.

If pointy is what you are looking for you might want to take a look at our VF Sans. It never stops being pointy!

It has not been put up on our site yet, but it is available for licensing. You can take a look at a cascade of weights and widths {ftp link removed. These should be added to the TD Site soon}.

That's pretty pointy, James!

Thanks those look great! Nice to get to see the site too.

Thanks so much everyone for all the help! I'm going to have a meeting with them today and hopefully we'll get it narrowed down to what they want/are willing to pay for (these are painfully cheap people!)

Thank you thank you thank you!

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you who responded and helped me out.

It was a fun learning experience for me about type. Unfortunately most of it was lost, they picked Brandon Grotesque because it was the cheapest (even though there are no small caps: the original requirement!) and ignored most of what I had to say about anything else.

Oh well.

Thanks for all of your help in any case. I am infinitely appreciative!
