Outline corruption when printing font table to PDF (from FontLab)

Michael Gallagher0 votes

Hi

I'm trying to generate a PDF of a font table specimen sheet from FontLab. I've tried printing to PDF directly and also printing to a PostScript file and then using Distiller to turn that into a PDF, and I keep running into the same problem of the glyphs in the table (but not the glyph cell labels) have some funny curve and kinks that aren't in the glyph outlines (in FontLab).

I've tried this with a few different fonts but keep having the same problem. Also, I've spoken with a friend at a large type foundry and she seems to have the same problem. Wondering if this is a known issue and if so, is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

Can't help you with the FL problem but, if you're on a PC, I would recommend this...

They offer several options for printing specimen sheets, and a fully functional 30-day trial.

The glyph cell labels in the FontLab Studio printout are rendered using a font, but the glyphs are rendered as outlines. It's quite possible that the outline drawing procedure is somewhat buggy.

We plan to improve this in the next release.

adam, why you talk about something that will likely never appear. The community will have probably moved on to UFO design programs long before next version of FLS is released.
