This looks to me like Trade Gothic, but much lighter and more compressed than what I've seen available digitally. Any ideas?

Back in the day, PLINC had standard faces like this in weights from 000 to 10, so chances are good that it's a photoface that hasn't yet made the digital transition...
Nick's right. Likely film. Closest digital may be Lightline Gothic. See also Titling Gothic and Benton Sans.
