F.W. WOOLWORTH Typeface?

Reynolds21 January 2011 · 11:27

Hey Folks,

I'm trying to ID the typeface used in this F.W. WOOLWORTH Sign. Any ideas??

It looks like a more squat version of Bodoni.. But I can't tell if that's from the distortion of the old photo, or whether the typeface is actually like that.

Thanks!

Those were always handpainted. You might find an Engravers that is similar: Search for Engravers on MyFonts.

You might find something at Letterhead Fonts, although most of their signage-based fonts from this era are a little more ornate.
