A colleague asked me to recommend a period font suitable for a "Boston Tea Party" invitation. As I'm English I declined to offer any suggestions, but offered to post the question to typophile.
Thanks in advance, Si

Boston Tea Party invitation font?
Caslon was almost the only thing around. Either P22's Franklin Caslon or ITC Founders Caslon will give the right antique look.
If in doubt :-) thanks for the advice. I'll pass this on.
Cheers, Si
(Not a suggestion, an aside.)
Need more info on demographics. Are we talking history buffs? A faction of the GOP? Fans of the drink Tea?
He went ahead and licensed P22 Franklin Caslon. :-)
The intended use is to use it in an actual printed invitation to a tea party (the non-political kind).
Cheers, Si
