ITC Golden Type: In search of an italic relative!

Brian Jackson

ITC Golden Type is beautiful and integral to our branding program. But occasionally we need an italic for small uses, which was never made. Can anyone recall a close relative? See the preview...

The style is Jensonesque, so this may be helpful...

what about column italic?

its got pretty much the same serif structure just some of the angles seems off in places. which shouldn't be a big issue with it being used italics only.

Oldnick,

Thank you. I purchased LTC Jenson and am quite happy with the similarities! Great find (and prompt too).

Kennyadam, - Column just feels too different, more feminine curves. ...more like a distant female relative! :-)

You might also check out some of the Goudy italics, also from the same period, and available in the LTC catalogue.

Golden type is based on the works of William Morris (http://new.myfonts.com/person/William_Morris/), which, in turn, based his work on Jenson’s.
Another digital revival, with italics, was done by Scriptorium:

That "true golden italic" looks like a mechanically slanted roman. Yuck.
