(x) Art Deco knock-off - Premier Lightline {Florian}

Steve Brown

My client has supplied me with a badly made .ttf called Gatsby. The U/C letter S is particularly badly crafted. I've included a sample of the business logo and was hoping someone could identify what this is a knock-off of. Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately it's neither of those ... the closest is Kaptiva ... howver the u/c A is different. Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance

There are alternates for the A and S in Premier Lightline's character set. The A could be simply modified in Illustrator by deleting the points that define the crossbar's left-hand protrusion.

And the one digital font I'm aware of that contains those Premier Lightline Alts is GatsbyFLF by the long defunct Casady & Greene.

It would still require the slight snip of the A's crossbar, as NJ said.

The alts do appear in the character map for Letraset's Premier, still available for sale on MyFonts.

I imagine that the GatsbyFLF that Mike has linked to is the same one that Steve has been given.

Another quick point - looking at the weight of the sample above, closer still would be the Premier Shaded variant, with the shading removed. However, the Letraset Premier Shaded contains the "R" and "A" alts in place of the standard characters, but does not contain the lower-set "A" or alternate "S". Give with one hand, take with the other.

Sorry 'bout that - I failed to read the original post.

No worries Mike - no cardinal sins committed.
