arisoup24 October 2004 · 23:02Hi, what is the typeface used in Vertigo's Opening Credits by Saul Bass? ‹ Boston College font (x) "Stalingrad" movie title - Berthold Block Extra Cd {Marc O} ›
Bald Condensed25 October 2004 · 00:17Good old Clarendon. For an updated and frankly delicious version of that popular style check Stefan Hattenbach's Oxtail, available from Psy/Ops.
Bald Condensed25 October 2004 · 00:18Argh! Foiled by Mr. 2000! Serves me right for wanting to sound too smart for my own good.
Stephen Coles25 October 2004 · 00:25Nonsense, Yvezzie. I am starting to think those with a more complete answer should get as much credit as the first reply.
arisoup25 October 2004 · 00:32what about the typeface of where it says "Co-Starring" and "with"? thanks
Stephen Coles25 October 2004 · 00:39That's tougher to match dead on, but you would do well with News Gothic.
dan25 October 2004 · 04:30Arisu, based on when that movie was released I would guess good old Helvetica for the other typeface. It was popular back then.
Bald Condensed25 October 2004 · 04:58I really don't think so, Dan: this is without a doubt an American gothic like Stephen suggested, most probably News Gothic or Trade Gothic. Helvetica is quite different.
