At least we're not the only ones who've come to an opinion about this dreadful font:

Here it is on a popular sport blog The Big Lead:

Since posting a link this http://typophile.com/node/72094 (12hrs ago) I've come to the conclusion that the use of the font was a calculated move to maximize the publicity around his message.
You can take that to the bank! :-)
Personally I would have use the official Cleveland Tourism font as seen here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysmLA5TqbIY&feature=player_embedded
I like this one too... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=gallo/100709_lebron_deci...
"It's the hot new font. And it's all thanks to Dan Gilbert. In fact, I typed up and submitted this column in Comic Sans. Really! (Editorial note: It's true. He did. Sigh.)
So if you feel like firing off an angry letter today, remember that some of America's top executives trust Comic Sans to get their point across. Comic Sans: for when you want to show you're sans comedy!"
Just imagine Dan Gilbert had Microsoft Office 2010! He could have used the new Comic Sans 2010 font we just released. Imagine how that would have gone over!
So many new ways to be creative: http://www.ascendercorp.com/pr/2010-07-06/

>as long as they stop talking about Comic Sans.
I think you're at stage 4 - http://www.recover-from-grief.com/7-stages-of-grief.html
Even after all the outrage Gilbert's latest letter still uses Comic Sans.

I've reformatted it using CS2010...
