Books set in Photina

Jeffrey

Hi all,

I have recently bought Photina, and I'm totally in love with it. I've been trying to do some research on Photina and it's designer, and really appreciated the article over at I Love Typography on Jose Mendoza de Almeida. But the one thing I haven't found yet are books or other printed matter set in Photina. Especially I would be interested in examples of combinations of Univers and Photina. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks
Jeffrey

I bought the Mendoza book a few weeks ago and there is one mention of a book using Photina:
Methods of Book Design, by Hugh Williamson (Alden Press).

Also a mention that the Oxford University Press adopted Photina for their books.
Photina was launched in December 1971, so that should give you a start of that period…

Cheers,
Bert

One importand book typeset in Photina is the third edition of Methods of Book Design by Hugh Williamson (New Haven and London: Yale University Press, 1983). Williamson was a great fan of Photina, ‘an early example of a type-face originally designed for photo-composition’.

Among the Oxford books set in Photina is the fourth edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations (1992, rev. 1996). Univers is used with it to a limited extent, for the serial numbering of quotations on each page and in the index.

Thanks a lot guys! I'll look into those!
