Mathematical Design

MRE

Hey,

Does anyone know about techniques or software to create generated designs like the following examples:

http://www.iographica.com or
http://www.26lettres.com/matterNYE_hi.jpg or
http://www.theluxuryofprotest.com (go to the Data Visualization section... check out the projects) or
http://www.aisleone.net/2009/design/research-rca-exhibition-catalogue

Thanks! :)

the background design for the iographica website is the actual product if you didnt figure that one out :)
theres nothing mathematical about that one at all. haha.

ya that I know... I use it and it's really cool, but you can't output more than a low res .png...

i have processing, but the programming makes it ehhhh... don't know anything about it

If you aren't afraid of (or familiar with) Python, take a look at NodeBox. It's open source and, AFAIK, currently available for OS X and Linux (though the new Beta seems to have a Windows port too).

It takes some time to get familiar with, but there's already a huge host of NodeBox visualization libraries around.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see you don't like programming :) … I'm afraid for maximal control (read: good results) you'll want some coding skills though. It's not hard to learn, and there are great tutorials for both Processing and NodeBox. Worth your time. Promise.

really looks interesting... i think i'll just have to dive into it if want what i have in mind...
