Over a decade ago, I used the Palm "Pilot" to help make fonts. I used a bitmap editor and a simple vector drawing application.
Examples:
Duality
Counterscraps
Echelon
Can you recommend some iPod/iPhone apps that might be handy for drawing glyphs?

You might like Adobe Ideas. It's vector based, free, and outputs pdf files you can open in Illustrator (or whatever).

Check out typism and see if it's in the ballpark:

I'm interested in this area again :)
Typism doesn't seem to suit the very small screen . . . unless I'm doing something wrong. I tried it in Safari and Opera . . . has anyone has success working with it on an iPod/iPhone?
Adobe Ideas looks fun for only for Americans: it's not available in the Japanese iTunes store. Damn.
The Palm was better suited for bitmap drawing because on the pen. I've tried Autodesk Sketchbook and Edge Touch but it's frustrating without a pen to get pixel precision. Although, I could get used to Edge Touch for really lo-res pixel fonts. http://iphone.takabosoft.com/en/edgetouch/index.htm
I can sort of draw letters with the Buro Destruct app. (Check the T in the Typophile 10th Birthday thread) http://www.burodestruct.net/bdd/
Are there any apps with Bezier curve editing?
Somewhat related: has everyone tried the Typography Junkies app?
Ah, right. For some reason I was thinking you were asking about iPad apps. Not in Japan just yet.
As for the pen, there is a thing called a Pogo Stylus that works with touch-based screens and pads:

I tried to get one at my local Apple store, but they were out. Seems like it would be great for drawing apps.

Me too! Just a few days ago I made this sketch.
I can just acquire a human finger
Maybe you can settle for a wiener:

Ray, humans have more than one finger on each hand, and tellingly we hold things in them (and I don't mean just flat bricks).
What we need is the -eventual- MS Courier:
