Typeface for Children/Age: 8+

keyaar

I am working on the layout+production aspects of a school
diary as part of my classroom project.
_
Now looking for a typeface to use in my mock-up pages.
Have read up on Sassoon, designed for children.
Also looked at rounded fonts, like Helvetica Rounded and
VAG Rounded, but the i, j, l and t are quite confusing.
_
Please can anyone tell me what other choices I have?
And what all should I take into account?
Also, do I need to place this query in the Type ID forum?
_
Thank you all in advance.

8 years olds are fairly adept at reading (or, at least, should be). I don't think you have to go out of your way too far for any particular typeface that isn't also readable by yourself.

Oh...this is your blog. It's fine to post it here, but you may also want to ping the general discussion group. Might get a few more takers there.

~aluminium, Thank you. I'll write a few lines there too.
One thing I forgot to mention, English isn't their mother toungue.

I might go with a not-too-slanted Italic Slab Serif.
I also want to avoid non-handwriting-like elements in k, g, a etc.

*~aluminum, I'm terribly sorry I spelt the name wrong.
