Classic serif

hanna.sunden

Hello experts, could anyone help me identify this serif?

It's from an old (pre 1950's, letterpress?) publication so not a new distressed version of an older font.

Thanks a lot!

Given the clumsy spacing in places, it may not be foundry type at all, but output from a Varityper Composing machine, in which case it would have been printed by offset lithography, rather than letterpress...

I browsed through Jaspert's "Encyclopaedia of Type Faces" and didn't see it. Nothing close in the Serif Guide that I could find either. I'm stumped.
