New logo for Britain in space

david h

A new name and a new logo for Britain in space:

BBC

These guys got there first.

These guys got there first.

And with better results.

"Uck-sar" sounds like Pig Latin.

Why not "Yook-sar"?

I kinda like the logo. It's a bit overeager, but works.

Yes, but for me it's the type treatment which is kinda bland and unbalanced.

Yes, well, it is British so using Gill or a slightly altered Gill is compulsory along with a national flag reference.

The upward shooting arrow plus the type shows we're bland but dynamic.

Looks a bit too much like a kite to me, not quite hi-tech enough to crack space. I kinda get a Monty Python vibe. The Astronauts who say "nee"

Doesn't quite work for me either. My eye is drawn to the space at the top left. I think it doesn't quite come together as a design.

These guys got there first.

And not forgetting the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.

Reminds me of the Silverstone (race track) logo - http://www.silverstone.co.uk/

Oh yes, good spot. Wonder if UKSA's designer was aware of that!

Excuse me while I vomit (into my champagne bucket). Yet another generic 'British' Design.
The only way to correct this wrongdoing is to now come clean with antigrav technology.

Wait, are we planning on conquering space or just exploring it?

The new colonialism :-)

Well, the arrow says ‘up’ but type says ‘down’.

> The new colonialism :-)

This Colon--ialism?

I thought I would give the logo a go since that one clearly doesn't work to well;

(sorry if it's a bit rough, it took 10 minutes max.)

I probably could have used some gestalt on it but hey it's not my job to design that logo, I just got bored and wanted to add to it :)

This made for Britain in Space logo carries the gestalt meaning of >falling apart<.
'Dad's army' metaphor of 'make do and mend' is perfect.

Gosh, it's in the shape of a crash!

Still it's a whole lot better than the logo of the soon-to-disappear British National Space Centre:

Whoah, the BNSC logo seems like it’s floating above my screen, although, in fact it’s not…

;)

After all, the UKSA logo is not that bad {and could have been much worse}. I wonder if there even is a chance to design a Space Agency logo and getting standing ovations for it on a design/typography forum…

Moonraker?
