Vintage Oil Can Typography — Typophile archive

Hello,

I am interested in learning more about the typography and font choices of vintage oil cans. See attached reference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, ie. what decade these were influenced by and digital replicas of the fonts used.

Thanks

I'd be willing to bet that most of the logotypes and larger lettering are hand lettered.

Nice stuff.
