(x) 'Fringe': Victorian Decorative Display - Tuscan Ornate aka Bracelet, Lettres Ornées, Exotica, Romantiques {Mike Y, Tamas, F}

Does anyone have any idea what these typefaces are... particularly the 'N'.... I'm pulling my hair out... I can't find anything remotely similar

The G is called Tuscan Ornate, and Dan Solo has a digital version of it called Bracelet, which was another name for the typeface.

The N is from a typeface called Lettres Ornées. (shown in Rookledge)

[edit: Dieter Steffmann has a version of this here.]

It seems to me I have seen a Dover book, maybe by Dan Solo with a collection of ornate initials like these. I suspect these have been scanned from a book like that.

I have "Decorative Display Alphabets" by Dan X. Solo and it shows the N as a typeface he calls "Currier". I think the other name I gave is its original name.The book does not show any of these other letters, however.

Lettres Ornées is still sold by Stempel as a metal typeface.

I have found the R here as Circus, by Dan Roseman.

The E is here, a few lines down; I am starting to think the whole poster was culled together from the Decorative section of Dafont.

The R is not quite the same as Circus (check again), but you are right about Exotica for the E.

Thanks everyone!

The G is from Steffmann’s Romantiques.
