flourishy, vintage design style

jjdewtt

I am looking to find a designer that can design with a style similar to as in this image. Elegant with flourish, vintage, etc. The design work would be for invitations and a logo.

I am having trouble finding examples of this type of work and designers that design this way. Can anyone help me to understand that design/typography style this is considered? Also, what are some good resources online for finding examples of this style and designers who can do this.

Thanks.

Joshua

That book is good, I would also check out "New Vintage Type" I think youll find a little more of what you are looking for.

Some design firms to check out who do this type of work:

www.ptarmak.com
www.gardnerdesign.com
www.muccadesign.com
www.louisefili.com

If you are looking for someone more on a freelance basis to do a specific project for you, I know a few designers who have a knack for this, let me know if that is the case. Just know that type of design can be incredibly time consuming and not cheap.

Dear Joshua,

What you are showing here is the work of Matteo Bologna, done for the Balthazar Restaurant in New York City.

Will Staehle is also very good at Victorian-inspired typography.

I recommend two good books:

Good luck.

Heh, this style reminds me of a series of certificates I made for our office Christmas party this year.

Fantastic information. Wow, this is a huge help. Thank you. I love this style!
