Aircraft markings

Massimo Belloni

Hello,

Hoe that all the expert here will help me: I have to put on the side of a microlight plane the identification mrkings (usually done with pre-spaced self adhesive), but I can't find the font I like.

Looks like (apart the military one, called "Amarillo") that two kind are the most used. One can be seen on this
Cessna 162

The other is in the sample included.

By the way, it should be available both with the right and left slanted characters.

I've tried in a great number of font sites, but with no luck.

Is it there some kind soul which can help me?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards, Max

Here's an option:

Bank Gothic Condensed
http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/alphabetsoup/bank-gothic-as/condensed/

Others that might work (go to MyFonts or Fontshop to see/buy):

City (Berthold)
Stratum (Process Type Foundry)
Refrigerator (Mark Simonson)

I think you can make the slant in either direction using your graphics software. I think you will be unlikely to find a font that matches the style and has the slants too.

The closest font I found so far was Nick Curtis's Route 66. Other fonts had bigger problems with the '1', or the 6 or 9 not being closed the same way.

Note that typefaces intended for cartography often feature a backslanted style, to denote rivers... that flow upstream. Only that last past was a joke!

Thanks to all!

Following your indication I've furtherly increased my search and finally I found an acceptable font: it's called "Mandatory".

Thenaks to all I finally was able to find a solution. Thanks!

There a few more freebies in this genre: Forgotten Futurist and Tapeworm have the charme of simple-hearted imperfectness. Tino Meinert’s CP Mono is more polished and well crafted, it comes in 5 weights, incl. small caps.
