(x) Happy New Year to all Typophiles and visitors of the Type Identification Board - hand-lettered {Craig, Riccardo}

Bald Condensed

May all your type identification requests be positively identified in 2010.

Merry
Merry
Xmas!

hhp

Nope, I never do Christmas; I’m a third generation atheist. Keep searching. :^D

BTW From left to right: Eliza (13), Randall (11), and Nona (5) on New Year’s Eve 2009.

Happy New Year to you too Yves. It’s nice seeing you around again.

- Mike Yanega

Oh, clever.. MMX is the year. Nice children you have. Any typophiles in the bunch?

- Mike Yanega

I myself am agnostic (I don’t know what generation - I don’t think I’ve asked). I just couldn’t resist pointing out the confluence (and wishing people merry anything is something I should do more anyway).

Your kids are growing fast, eh?
BTW, can I steal your idea for 2011?

hhp

You can steal any of my ideas! :^D

> Any typophiles in the bunch?

Eliza is developing distinct likes and dislikes for typefaces, and I haven’t got anything to do with it. She’s now in her “hate Comic Sans/love Century Gothic” phase. I can live with that. ;^)

I was going to say, Eliza seems quite intent there on making a good “M”!

hhp

I won’t mention that I’m a Christian, then...

Happy new year, etc.

And, yes, I hope more IDing is properly dealt with, “non-fonts” aside.

Happy new year, Yves!

Lovely children. Have a great year!

Happy New Year to you and yours Yves. Great to see you around!

(Wow, that were a lot of “Y”s in one sentence. :-) )

This is not a font - you can tell by the different /M/s. For something similar, look at Gill Sans for the first M.

:-)

Happy new year!

Lovely!!! Happy new year to you and yours as well!

> I won’t mention that I’m a Christian, then...

Why not — as an atheist I have no problem at all coexisting with religious people, as there is no competition. I’ll never try to convert you to my beliefs because I haven’t got any (at least nothing supernatural; I do believe in lots of things). ;^)

LOL Craig... never saw that one coming, I won’t even mention the hand lettering aspect.

Happy New Year to all.

Michael

Happy new year, all the best for MMX! :D

> This is not a font - you can tell by the different /M/s.

> I won’t even mention the hand lettering aspect.

> Not exact matches, but also in the ballpark:

You guys are crazy! :^D Nice crazy, but crazy nonetheless. :^P

What a nice idea for a New Years Card. Excellent!

Happy New Year, too. And Yves, it IS nice having you around here again. It gives this place much more … structure ;)

Well, since shortly Florian helps out “structuring the place”. ;^)

Nope, I never do Christmas

Well secular Christmas is better anyway. You get to receive a lot of presents and you don’t have to feel guilty about not sending your crazy Aunt Margie a thank you note.

Plus you get to talk about how beautiful Hannukah colors are without condemnation from your church community.

Actually the gift business (and I do mean business!) is the
main reason I don’t like Xmas anymore. I like Halloween now.

hhp

Around here we don’t particularly like Halloween, because it was imported from the US solely for marketing purposes. We already have “Driekoningen” on January 6th, when children go from house to house to sing for small change, and “Karnaval” late February when they all dress up.

Who’s this “Christ” guy some people mention occasionally at this time of the year?

Nick Cooke

Nick

Haven’t you seen his picture in the Shroud of Turin?

Michael

> Who’s this “Christ” guy some people mention occasionally at this time of the year?

> Haven’t you seen his picture in the Shroud of Turin?

People, please tread with caution. Although I have major problems with institutionalised religion, I respect genuinely religious people and rather not ridicule their beliefs.

Peace. :^)

I’m not making fun of anyone.

I was being ironic Yves - some people don’t know what Christmas is all about.

Nick Cooke

Totally missed that — you are absolutely right. :^)

And I was not being blasphemous... just pointing up the fact that the Shroud may be, for some, their sole exposure to the Miracle.

Off to Church!

Michael

Yves, 100% agree on Halloween, around here it’s really just a marketing thing.

BTW, Dreikönigstag (Jan 6) is one of my favorite strange/culture-specific holidays! But over here nobody even has to sing, all we do is eat this sweet bread that has a little plastic king hidden in it, and whoever finds it gets to be the family king for a day! Of course when you’re a kid, that’s like the best thing that can possibly happen. :-)

Well handled Roman Numerals by your lovely family, Yves!

From one atheist to another, may the force be with you.

ChrisL

>May the force be with you.

Ha! a believer, like George Lucas.

I, too, am an atheist. I tried pantheism, but got confused. ;)
A Happy New Year to all and, as Mel Brooks says in the movie Spaceballs: May the Schwartz be with you.
Kids are expensive!
