Logo used by the Ramblers Association in the UK in the mid twentieth century

Any help with this would be appreciated, I can't find a better sample. It's from a logo used by the Ramblers Association in the UK in the mid twentieth century. Whatthefont thinks it is Copperplate Gothic but that has much sharper serifs.

This is one time I would go with WTF. See the range of Copperplate Gothics shown at this link.

:-) I was going to say the exact same thing.

BTW, how do you know the serifs in your sample weren't actually this sharp, before the loss of quality?

im not certain about the kerning on these, but they turned my opinion around about copperplate
and theres an oldstyle looking copperplate in the bunch

i had a type teacher that was very anti-copperplate,
i understand, buuut i like it still-i had the same aversion to the leg of the R in gill sans

Andrew Leman (I think) was the one who did those fonts for the Lovecraft Society.
