Restore all the kerning in a font? How to?

André Simard

How can I restore all the kerning in a font. It’s probably obvious for someone here, but I can’t figure out to do it. I read in the FL manual that I have to press on the (icon) button and select the Reset Kerning command in the pop up menu. I see that icon in the toolbar but that button is in gray, so I can’t press on. Your help will be appreciate. Is there an other way to restore all the kerning in a font?

Thanks

André

How was it lost? Have you saved a copy of the data as an AFM file?

ChrisL

If I dit that I don’t remember when, but I don’t think I’ve already saved a copy of the data as an AFM file.

Do you have a copy of the font before you lost the kerning?
If so, open that version and “Export Metrics” as AFM file

Thanks Chris for your suggestion. However, I think I made a mistake when I wrote my comment. What I want to do is reset to zero value all the kerning. I want to delete all the kerning information. Sorry for my english.

André

If the Fontlab preview/metrics window is in metrics mode, the command “tools > reset kerning” is disabled. Turn to the kerning mode (A|v).

You got it! Thanks for your help Arno and also you too Chris.
