Need id for serif with specific Q and i

maremare

Hi!
Need help with finding the name of this serif, any other info is much appreciated! The Q and i are quite special but I have a hard time finding the name of the font.
Any ideas?

The asymmetric T and the shape of the a say garalde.
The thickness of the serifs (almost slab) says that probably it's intended for pretty small text.
The choice to include Å, Ä and Ö says Sweden… ;-)

The ÅÄÖ is only because I'm swedish but I don't know if it is a swedish type.

WhatTheFont says, ITC Golden Type is very close.
P22 Morris is more rugged, but both do not have round i/j dots (while otoh in both the i dot is slightly off-center, too). Your K is more like the P22 font.

It's a bit similar but the dot over the i is too elliptic in the golden type. The closest font i've found is the 1470 Jenson Latin Normal or jensen Eusebiu. The Q is the hardest part to match and also that the dot over the i isn't centered.

Looks a lot like William Morris's Golden Type, obviously. Veronese (http://www.identifont.com/show?7PA) by Red Rooster is based on a late-nineteeth century American copy of Morris, but doesnt't match your example either.
Where does your photograph come from ?

It's a school assignment where we are supposed to find a font and make a poster explaining it's uses and unique parts etc. I got this print out from the teacher

Does your teacher expect you to get on Typophile to identify the print-out?

Well, if no-one here can find it, he can always say the assignment is too difficult ;-)

The font is Doves by Torbjorn Olsson, based on the works of Emery Walker (based on Jenson lettering) from a 1900 typeface for Doves Press. The image below is the sample from my Serif Guide, where I found the answer.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the help. I don't think my professor expected me to ask here, but this was probably one of the hardest assignments since my classmates got types that was easily found on what the font etc.

Thnx anyway!

Marcus, please forgive me (ursekta meg) if my post seems rude, but I don’t really understand the reasoning behind this assignment. Handing out print-outs of random typefaces asking the students to explaining it’s use sounds like a lazy teaching method.

The ÅÄÖ is only because I’m swedish but I don’t know if it is a swedish type.

Appears your teacher picked a Swedish type designer for you to study. Below is the website of Olsson Fonts.

You can also search 'Torbjörn Olsson' on this page for additional information.

It was more of an assignment where you should look at the classifications of typefaces as a way of identifying them, I guess most of us used what the font instead(me Typophile).

The largest part of the assignment wasn't to identify the font but to look at how it can be used, different weights and how to get a hold of it and then present this on a a3 print out. This on the other hand will be very difficult because I can't get hold of any real information on this type and I don't even know how to get a hold of it. I guess I have to email Olsson and ask. I can't even use the font in my print out.

The only information i have found is in the two links above. It would have been easier if I could use the font and try it myself I guess.

If anyone knows where to buy it or any information about the font I would be glad!

You could mail me.
I made the Doves Type Pro

Torbjörn

Torbjörn, I've got a great pdf of the Doves type but haven't got a clue where it came from? Looks luscious though!
