Amplitude - info?

Lasse Kristensen

Hi Typophiles.

I have been set a project in art school about Amplitude.
Do you have any observations about that particular font?
Do you know about any 'famous' usage of that typeface?

Thank you very much,
Lasse

Also, what is your opinion about the typeface - do you like it?

Famous use? Well..for a while, a long time ago it was the face of Wallpaper magazine.

Really, is that so? Surely that is quite an achievement for a typeface. Do you know why Wallpaper changed it?

London's Metro newspaper uses it throughout for headlines. I like it — somehow it has a cheerful feel.

Lots of people seem to find it sexy or tasty in a sence - do any of you agree?

As with all Christian Schwartz's designs, it's a good solid, contemporary and sleek design. I like its rhythm and rigour and it has plenty of widths and weights to suit different purposes. I'd love to have the chance to licence it.

I'm not sure the massive x-height makes it very useful for extended reading.

I don't know what would qualify as "famous" for you, but Amplitude has been used in a number of high profile publications, too numerous to mention.

Wallpaper was already mentioned. Another is Rolling Stone magazine.
