tormod

Hi!

I'm new to this forum, but hope that I post this Q in the right place.

Can someone ID this font? It reminds me about some of the LOTR fonts, but I cant find someone that is good match..

the font

Best regards

That's Hermann's Zapfino. :-)

WOW! that's a quick answeer!

Thanks!

("Brancusi" looks like Papyrus)

just wonder.. -I can see that all most of the answeer here points to an "buy font" site.

Do any one know if there is an "lookalike" free version of this font?

BTW, if I have broken some forum rules with this post, pleas delete it, and let me know.. :-)

Hahahaha! Indeed you have broken some forum rules
with your last post, but that's no reason to delete it. As you
told us, you're a newbie so you couldn't know. I appreciate
you were so candid. I'm pretty busy right now so I'll have
to get back to you later for some explanations. In the
meantime everybody go easy on Tormod, alright? First
one who doesn't behave gets booted! :-)

oh.. I'm sorry! ;( I had a bad feeling about that one.. ;)

But now I know!

Tormod, Yves will educate you but a good free site is DaFonts, you won't find the commercial fonts Zapfino or Papyrus, but maybe you will find something you could use.

Hi Tormod, I didn't forget you. In short, we have nothing
against freeware or shareware fonts unless they are
pirated copies or rip-offs from existing commercial fonts.
So we could point you towards websites which offer
legit free fonts (unfortunately most of those sites are
severely tainted by the presence of rip-offs as well),
but we sure as hell won't tell you which free font is a
design stolen from Hermann Zapf.

we sure as hell won't tell you which free font is a design stolen from Hermann Zapf.

I sure as hell will: Book Antiqua. Comes with Windows. Stolen from Hermann Zapf. :-)

Hahahahaha! Indeed it is!

Yves Peters: Ok! Do you peoples live by making fonts? -I'm sorry I dont know what kind of forum this is, it just poped up when I did a search on how to ID fonts..

Anyway, you have all been kind and helpful, and I thank you all for this!
I now know where to go if I need some fonts info!

:-)

Zapfino as a .dfont comes FREE with Apple OS X... No need to use pirated stuff (I do assume Apple licences it...).

Tormod, did you ever see the Indie Font Books, most of those designers visit this site and even parcipitate in the forums. Yes they make their living designing (and type as well).

Bert Vanderveen: yet a reson to buy apple.. lol
I'm working a lot with images so MAC is my dream anyway! :-)

Daniel Weaver:
I did get that feeling.. :-) It's stange to think of, I use a lot of different fonts every day, but i have never realy put my mind on people like you that actually make them..

But now I have, so THANK YOU :-)
