Creating super clean line art

Troy

Hi all,

I am presuming this image below was created some how in photoshop using filters???

http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/13466/line_art...

I have experimented with various tutorials and filters in photoshop (cutout, stamp, notepaper etc) hoping to replicate the clean smooth lines (image is based of a photo I presume), but are yet unable to get so nice and clean lines, so I'm not sure if I meant to be doing something else before applying those filters etc or.

Does anyone know or can provide me with some advice and tutorials on how to do such work.

Any help would be great

The image is too small.

do you know how to draw/paint?

Its vector art (not done by filter). You can accomplish this by using the pen tool/freedom pen tool to trace (shortcut key P).

If you want to do "super clean line art" you'll need to use a vector-based drawing program like Illustrator or Inkscape.

Photoshop isn't really meant for drawing.

That’s what you hire an illustrator instead of relying on filters or actions to do the work for you.

Well to be fair, a well experienced designer could output vectors that good, assuming they were either an illustrator in additional to their role, or, if they were supplied a finished illustration.

But if you're working for a studio, the practical thing to do would be to hire an illustrator, as James said, because that is painstaking work.

Hi guys it would seem that Illustrators Live Trace does something pretty much what I am after...
