Keeping up to date with the latest fonts being released? How do you do it?

Troy

Hi all,

I am a website / graphic designer and are just interested in how others keep up to date with the latest released fonts. What is your habit? Is there a few must visit websites you visit each week that does a round up of the week/months releases etc?

I’d love to be able to go to one or two website each week, or be email once or twice a week with the latest releases without having to go and visit every font designers website etc.

Any help would be great

You can start by subscribing to MyFonts.com or Fontshop.com mailing list. Furthermore, you can try visiting each distributed type foundry’s websites and subscribing to their blog feeds.

This forum also host a ’Release’ section at http://typophile.com/forum/7

ILoveTypography.com also reviews newly released typeface every once in a while.

I find it helpful to follow the type foundries on twitter.

Hi guys yeah I forgot to mention that I am signed up to myfont.com with their rising stars newsletter.

Ok I’ve followed ilovetypography.com, fontshop.com, fontbureau and typophile on twitter.
I wikied fount foundaries for all the big foundaries but no ones else is twittering.

Was kind of hoping there might be a one stop shop that covers all font releases etc

I’m afraid there’s no such thing, yet. :D

I’m afraid there’s no such thing, yet.

And let’s hope we never get there!

Just say no to font resellers!

mk2’s suggestion is good. Also, once a year we cover the best releases at Typographica and I’ll be posting more frequent reviews soon.

James, I think Raptor was using the word “shop” figuratively. He’s looking for a news source, not necessarily a store. Still, one of the many services resellers provide is exactly this, introducing buyers to goods they wouldn’t otherwise find.

Not sure how you were searching, but this page lists quite a few twittering foundries.
