Perhaps seeing my SBL Greek type used in the new Oxford edition of C.P. Cavafy, one of my favourite poets.

Matthew Carter likes to tell about the time he was in the duty-free shop at Heathrow and found some Scotch with Galliard on the label. He bought a bottle, and as he walked out, a market researcher holding a clipboard stopped him. "Why did you pick that brand of Scotch?" she asked him. "Because I designed the type on the label," he answered, as she searched in vain for a check box corresponding to that answer.

Two different comic book titles using JLS UltraBold/OverKill Bloque.

Watched it. That was real cool mattmc.

The first use of a headline face I’m still working on will arrive in my mailbox in a couple of days. I can’t wait!

I'm not sure why, but I loved seeing Subtil on a simple parking ticket at Dortmund Airport. I was going to Spain for holiday, and this definitely made me start my vacation with a smile....

Seeing the posting time information panel on every post box in the UK (even the smallest hamlet) using Chevin, oh and it's plastered all over every Post Office too.

I would also like to see Houschka Pro on NBC, but unfortunately can't.

My Lapture is used on the cover of the Polish version of Bringhurst's Elements of typographic style.
I guess the next step on the ladder would be to get onto the cover of the English version ;)

My commercial type design contributions to the world are just a couple of sloppy wood type knock-offs. So, I usually see them in sloppy wood-type applications (RODEO coming to town!) type stuff. I have seen them on a few CD covers, though and I think there's a kids game that used one of the faces for everything.

Just for convenience's sake, here is a link that skips to the part of the YT video where mattmc's typeface is being shown.

The first picture I received showing Hangil E-Type in use.

And the very first picture of the typeface I designed in collaboration with Paul van der Laan for Audi.

The first and therefore the coolest.

Maybe not cool but fun: seeing Reliq carved into a pumpkin and lit, as the main logo of a conference identity, along with more Reliq for the collateral.

No, that is cool Carl.

Seeing my Blot Test font used on one of my favorite tv shows, Robot Chicken, was cool for me.

Seeing my Target as the headline font on Playboy magazine (US edition). I did some research and apparently Playboy used Target from '05 to '08.
I've also seen Target in Esquire magazine from 2000 on.

For the most part I haven’t got a clue who uses my fonts. But because the S in Recovery doesn‘t match what’s in most Eagle revivals, I have twice spotted it on t-shirts.

For me, one of the coolest things was seeing Proxima Sans used as part of the house style in Rolling Stone magazine back in 2002. It inspired me to get back to work on it and add the weights, styles and features I'd left on the drawing board when I released it in 1994. The result was Proxima Nova in 2005. (Thank you, Matthew Ball!)

Olduvai on my daughter's crackers. She didn't get what all the fuss was about and made a fuss herself when I photographed them before she could have one. In general, when Trader Joe's uses my fonts, I buy whatever it is. Thankfully they don't sell cars.

I love that story. I still haven't had a chance to see any of my work on anything available commercially, but most of my type work so far has been for specific projects, not commercially or freely available fonts.

Johann Sparkling on the cover of a soft porn mag was nice, but Voluta at the Creation Museum in Kentucky is my favourite:

Here's my Bolonewt font on a store in Paris:

Florent Ghys has used Bernur on two of his album covers: Baroque Tardif and antisolo.

He even sent me a copy of Baroque Tardif. It's pretty good.

I did some research and apparently Playboy used Target from ’05 to ’08.

I'm sure you did! (nudge, nudge, wink)

As for me, I just happened across this a few months ago:

It's a freeware type I made 10 years ago while in college called "Jammed Toaster", as it was a tribute to the logotype for software maker Adaptec, which at the time published two CD authoring programs, "Toast" and "Jam".

It's an awful font, with crumby letter forms and non-existent spacing, and no capital letters (which is why they must have thrown in the 'D' from Bauhaus in there).

Music Choice is a collection of music offerings from cable providers like Comcast, but I'm assuming it's used nation-wide. Which is kind of cool, as I've never had any of my work get that kind of exposure before.

I am not sure whether it is the most exciting or most disappointing. I came into Waterstones yesternight and there was a huge display with 60 times the same book. It bore a font of mine on the cover. Unfortunately, it was a beta version of the font (I can tell from details). Furthermore, the font is not released yet. So it must come from a pdf I sent to two or three people for beta testing... My bet is: it will be on dafont before even being released and all the time spent on kerning and hinting properly will be wasted!

nailed it!

Seeing Xavier in a children's book (something about dinosaurs) while working with disabled pre-school kids. Always making me feel good to see my fonts in books for kids!

Ah, just remembered walking into Macy's one evening and noticing a box of cosmestics with the new weights of Shiseido (originally designed by Adrian Frutiger) that I had been commissioned to do. White letters on metallic red; very eye-catching. Of course, I love red on white like that. The sales woman just happened to have an empty box which she gave to me, when I explained why I wanted one!

Old typograph vs. new typography in a nutshell: Guy in a baseball cap talks about his fonts on a sticker on a talk show while some other guy talks his fonts as used for Greek poetry.

Chris, I misread that :) The head looks like a tittle.

Just saw PTL Attack in Adbuster #85 ... and it makes me very happy and thrilled. First time I saw it in use in real life and in exactly what it was meant for! Thanks Adbusters!

My fav has got to be Maral used for books, sweatshirts, etc. at my kids' school.
I get them to tell their classmates "my dad made this font". :->

Every time I visit another country/city, I tend to find my font in the touristy districts, since a brand named Robin Ruth uses it in their products, worldwide.
