I need a fattish friendly slab serif

jonathanhughes

Can anyone recommend a nice friendly slab serif that comes in a fairly heavy weight.

Something like Museo, but with slab serifs would be ideal.

thanks!

I'd recommend FF Tisa, not like museum but friendly contemporary slab! the bold version is pretty heavy, though not fat!!

Caecilia? It's got a heavy weight.

Nice stuff. Maybe something even quirkier (like Museo) would fit the bill.

I'm using Stag a lot at the mo.
For quirky, you could look at Akimoto or Black Sabbath.

Enclave Black perhaps?

Try Neutraface Slab:

Archer and Caecilia are great. The ball points on Archer are an especially nice characteristic.

I've always loved Ziggurat but I don't know that I'd call it 'friendly':

Adding Soho

and PF Centro Slab to the list.

Maybe Dispatch counts as friendly, too:

Oh, I have forgotten Sansa Slab by Fred Smeijers.

Well, in this case »Slab« stretches the definition …

This is great stuff. Thanks, everyone! I had never seen Sansa Slab before. It's quite nice (true, kind of somewhere between a sans and serif, but quite nice)

Aha, you are looking for the more … hmm … quirky slabs, eh?

Did you notice the »unique« curves of some Shiretype-Familyfaces from Jeremy Tankard?

EDIT: Ups, sorry for the big samples.

One more...Ink Gothic

how about rockwell extra bold (ttf) or fette egyptienne (ttf).

Museo Slab is out today: http://bit.ly/7rHOir — that ought to satisfy your need for "something like Museo, but with slab serifs."

“something like Museo, but with slab serifs.”

Hey, that sounds quite like my design brief for Museo Slab :)

Nice! Who would've thought that getting exactly what I asked for would've been so easy?

And Museo Slab looks great!

Museo Slab is very friendly (and has other good stuff going for it).
If that's still not friendly enough, try Sumner Stone's Silica.

hhp

Maybe not so friendly, but definately a heavy weight...

Jos,

I finally got around to buying Museo Slab (just the 1000 weight right now), and it fits the bill perfectly.
