Letterpress printing in Stockholm

all about seb

I guess this is a question to all Swedish Typophiles -

do you know of a place in Stockholm that does letterpress printing of business cards and the likes?

Thanks!

Seb

Seb

There is a rare book seller in Stockholm, cannot remember his business name. You could consult your phone book and probably find him. He would probably be able to steer you in the right direction.

Michael

Thanks for the tip, Michael.

tyeperror,

I think you're referring to "Antikvariat Morris", run by the man "Glenn Sjökvist". He should probably know.

The "good man" that is. He know a lot about typography and similar subjects ;-)

Stefan, thanks for doing my homework!

If you find anything, please put it back in this thread. I live in Oslo myself, but it would be cool to know of fellow Scandinavians who run letterpress workshops, if one could ome and visit. Some friends and I recently bought a Heidelberg Windmill and some lead type, but unfortunately we haven't found a place to have it up and running yet, so so far it is just stored.

I'm pretty sure Norrbacka tryckeri on Birkagatan does letterpress printing.

Nice to know the Windmills are still of interest in Oslo ;-)
I'd love to hear more about letterpress shops in Europe.
I know that the revival is pretty strong in the US, but the large part has been driven by the Vandercook hand press, for invitations and small press work, rather than commercial letterpress.

BTW, we ship worldwide ;-)

Thank you for the tip Karin. Seems I'll have to talk to the people at Norrbacka and guess what their shop is almost next to my office - small world...

Btw, lovely work you did work for the Fibes. I have been admiring the poster on the T-bana for a while.

Seb

Peter, thanks for linking to your site.

Wow, thanks! That made my evening fur sure!

Here are more detailed contacts for the printers. (Am planning to do some stuff there as well so I researched a bit more.)

(BTW I am new here, how come I don't get notifications when someone replies in a thread where I've posted? I can't find those settings anywhere. I came by here again just "by accident" cause I got that new info...)

Thanks ricardo for helping me!
But... I feel super stupid but I don't understand, my reader doesn't recognize http://typophile.com/user/49658/track
as a feed... sorry to bother you but can you describe a little bit more in detail?

Karin,

i went to the printers you recommended yesterday, what a wonderful place. So thanks again for the recommendation.

Seb

@karinskij: I'm sorry. I missed your reply.
Actually you're right, there's no "feed" for single users.
It seems I had an hallucination and saw a RSS icon in the address bar that wasn't really there... Here's the list of feeds available:

Seb, so nice to hear! I'm trying to get some estimates from him but I guess he's pretty busy - christmas coming up and all. There's obviously room for at least one more commercial letterpress printer in Sweden, hopefully there'll be one soon.

Ricardo, thank you. Actually, I got that message as a direct message to, which learned me that the @+name thing works here to! Good to know.

Best,
K

Karin, start one! Letterpress is fun and rewarding.

hhp

the @+name thing works here to[o]!
Unfortunately, it does not.

Letterpress can certainly be fun and rewarding, but based on painful experience, don't borrow money to go into the business ;-)

(I should have listened to Herr Gutenberg, he tried to warn me...)
