Suffering for a logo

felicitasp

Our client saw this idea from discard designs and choose it.

But we are afraid that this is not at all original, it is so conmmon that we are afraid to allow our client use it...

Could somebody help us to identify this and change our client's election?

here are a couple that come to my mind right away:

swiss cross

and

windows error icon

I also agree that the color and icon is a pretty common thing. Also, what is your clients business, what are you trying to portray in the icon?

Patrick

Ve haff ways of making your client change their mind.

(With apologies to Nina for my Hogan's Heroes German accent.)

I was also getting some kind of German imagery in my head looking at that, thanks for putting it out there, ha ha.

That would be a saltire voided. A saltire is a diagonal cross; see cross voided on Wikipedia. As an alternative, the Lábaro is kind of interesting and doesn't immediately say swastika.

When did windows start using cufflinks as a UI element?

My client was shocked!
He is a Macintosh reseller and the coincidence with Windows was enough to forget the whole thing.
He finally choose a new logo.
Thanks to all of you

Victor, take a look at Nina’s profile.
There are several german speaking countries.

There are several german speaking countries.

Including Switzerland. But it's a good point, so I extend my apologies to all German-speaking Typophiles.

Wait, apologies? It's all good.

I think it's funny that this client is primarily shocked and scared away by the prospect of invoking the Evil that is Windows. Who needs Germans anymore!

Clients who aren't susceptible to reason are often easily swayed by movie clichés.

I guess if you wanted to make a really scary movie now, it would have to be called "Gateszilla."
