Typophile

type for Middle Eastern tour company

opwann

Hello All,

I'm trying to find a typeface to use on a website for a tour company based out of Petra, Jordan, but who receive a majority of their clients from Canada and the US.

Thought I would call on the type crowd to see what they might suggest.

I appreciate any insight and thank-you in advance.

O

I'd consider Jerash

Ondine or Legende? Too stereotypical?

Michael

Adobe Designer Awards winner Tarek Atrissi did a wonderful job on Branding Qatar -- avoiding the 'arabic-like' stereotypes, he used New Baskerville instead. It might give you some fresh ideas.

I also seem to remember an Arabic-like Latin font he created, but can't find it off-hand...

People visit Petra to see the classical ruins, from around 2000 years ago.
There are no inscriptions in "Trajan" style majuscules on the buildings, but that would presumably be the historically appropriate style of lettering.
