Help needed identifying naturalist/botanical font, maybe 18th century

Christopher Miles

Hello,

I'm desperate to find out if there's a digitised version of this font. It's on a Cavillini Papers poster of butterflies. Apologies for the poor quality of the photo - I tried to find the poster on the Cavallini website but without luck.

I suspect it's not a font as such, as each letter looks individually handwritten, but wondered if there was a chance someone had done some kind of reproduction of it.

Many thanks.

I think you're right - this looks hand-drawn to me.

I agree about being hand-drawn, but I went looking to see if I could find anything that might work as a substitute. I thought P22 Dyrynk has a similar quality of looking somewhat hand-drawn and yet professional.

Matthew Carter's 1977 revival of Cochin might work:

MVB Sirenne could be nice.

Thanks all
