new Thomas Pynchon novel cover

Wehwalt

Here are various drafts of the cover of Thomas Pynchon’s new novel, Inherent Vice, which will be released in a few weeks. Anyone know the titles fonts and whether the final neon is custom or a font itself? Thanks!

1 and 3 are Avenir
2 is Futura

I don’t think so in any case.

You’re eyes are always better than mine, Jan.

I just realized in my mind I was really thinking of FontBureau’s Nobel

and 2 looks like it could be the Nobel light from FB with the M from Futura light and N of DTL Nobel light with a slight stroke added to FB Nobel and Futura.

Found it (1 and 3): Drescher Grotesk

Interesting find. Well done, Jan.

Thanks, Paul.

Thanks, guys— I appreciate the effort!

Isn’t the second just Century Gothic?

Kind regards,
Martijn van Berkel

Sure. Century Gothic. You’re right Martijn.
